Favourite C64 games?

What are some of your C64 favourites?

I really like Beam Rider - it's so playable. The only thing I dislike is the way the screen flashes when you hit something:

Beam rider is a great game, my top 5 fave games I would say are :

IK+


Bruce Lee


Leaderboard Golf


Lode Runner


California Games


There's lots of games I haven't played yet that could beat those for me but I am yet to know it.

Some classic games there! I love the first 2 Turrican games, I've mostly played the Amiga versions, though.

IK+ is great, but my favourite C64 beat'em up is Barbarian from Palace Software:

My two favorite c64 game are Raid On Bungeling Bay and Paradroid.

However, as a kid, I dumped SO MANY HOURS into Ultima IV, Autoduel, Lode Runner, Gunship, F19 Stealth Fighter. I wouldn't say these are my favorite games, but they were the very first games I couldn't put down.

Next year I'm going to make it my goal to catch up on all these old games.

And also try and finish some of the new ones I've bought this year, My Life and Barnsley Badger are at the front of the queue!

My taste in C64 games is rather ... unconventional.

Psi-5 Trading Company is one of my all-time favourite games ever. A unique, funny, and gorgeous looking take on the Star Trek games.


Andrew Braybrook's Morpheus is odd and amazing and has a lovely manual.


And Martin Walker's Citadel is beautiful


Of course I like all the classics as well. Elite is probably still my #1 game but there are better versions out there (gasp!). Oh, and anything by Minter.
